MELTING POT: The Melting Pot is a weekly showcase at the Comedy Underground that spotlighting members of Seattle's eclectic and diverse comedy scene. PINBALL WIZARD: Roger Daltrey is performing The Who's epic rock opera Tommy tonight at the Key Arena. Tommy was released in 1969 and the album tells the story of a "deaf, dumb, and blind kid" who "sure plays a mean pinball" and who also becomes the leader of a religious cult. And in 1975 they turned the concept album into an incredible movie in which Roger Daltery plays the title character. Lots of famous people are in the movie. It's pretty fantastic. This show is probably one of those once-in-a-lifetime things that everyone should be falling all over themselves to see. But since the ticket prices are a little spendy for our meager budget, we'll just have to settle for watching Tommy on Netflix.

WOODY: SIFF just re-opened the Uptown Cinema and to celebrate they are playing some well-loved classic movies through the end of this week. One of the films you can enjoy re-watching on the big screen is Woody Allen's 1977 career best Annie Hall. Diane Keaton is the best in this movie and so cool that after this film was released in 1977 women everywhere went out to buy men's ties and hats for themselves. And it's Annie Hall that reminds us why we all loved Woody Allen in the first place. The film won four Academy Awards for directing writing, acting, and even best picture (beating out Star Wars). Plus it's a really good excuse to visit the new theater.

5 pm // SIFF Uptown Cinema // $5 (or free with a same day receipt from a local Lower Queen Anne business)
