Classy-Ass Leftovers: Barbecued Turkey Cranberry Sliders
Probably, your sliders will not look this nice. But let's pretend! happy hour makes me happy by bpark81 from the Seattlest Flickr pool.
Whether you're having friends over because you've reached critical family mass, or you're just looking for a break from the cold-stuffing-straight-from-the-Tupperware purgatory you usually get stuck in, class up you leftovers by giving them a more jaunty name (and some sauce.)
What you need:
- Left-over turkey, shredded
- Turkey broth
- Barbecue sauce (make your own or buy some like a lazy person)
- Cranberry sauce
- Rolls (as many rolls as you want sliders)
- Whatever other leftovers you want to pile on, including (but not limited to) salad, stuffing, and mashed potatoes
Then you:
- In a shallow saucepan, bring the broth to a low heat. Add the shredded turkey. This will make it a little more tender than, say, microwaving it.
- Meanwhile, toast your rolls in a toaster over.
- After the turkey is properly moist, straight away extra broth until the turkey is mostly dry.
- Add the sauce, and heat together on low.
- Spread the rolls with cranberry sauce and whatever else you may like.
- Top with turkey and eat.
See? It's pretty much exactly what you'd eat anyway, but better. And if someone asks what you're eating, you can proudly tell them it's some classy-ass sliders.
