pike_old_bawdy_barley_wine_label.jpg Still not sure what to do on New Year's Eve? Not really interested in endless bar hopping or crowds of 21-year-old hooligans?

Might we suggest, then, heading to Pike Brewery & Pub for a classy (and delicious) New Year's Eve dinner and the pre-release party of this year's Old Bawdy Barley Wine. You know you're already going to get pretty hammered on this night anyway, with the celebration and ringing in of 2012, might as well do it in style and with some belly warming Pike Barley Wine.

You might be asking yourself, "What the heck is barley wine? And why is it being served at a brewery?" Well, A barley wine typically reaches a strength of 8 to 12% ABV (alcohol by volume) and is brewed from specific gravities as high as 1.120 (which is high!) The reason for its name is due to the simple fact that it is as strong as wine; but since it is made from grain rather than fruit, it is, in fact, a beer. Pike has been brewing their barley wine since 2006, and will be featuring a vertical tasting next month of the 2006 through 2011 Old Bawdy.

Here's what Pike has in store for you Friday night, December 31st:
