Seattlest: Nearing The Denouement
Perhaps you've heard the whispers, perhaps not; in any scenario, the time has come for us to confirm the rumors: As of 4:00p.m. Saturday December 31st, 2011, the Seattlest will be going on indefinite hiatus.
There were many factors going into this decision, and it's been one that's been debated off and on for the last 18 months or so. Gothamist, our parent company out of New York, has not abandoned Seattle as a market -- it is quite likely that they will return to the area at a future date. They simply feel that with some tweaks across a number of factors, they will be able to meet the goals they hope to achieve; for that, they will need the time to pull back, refocus, regroup and come back with a strong front.
The local staff wishes them luck in that endeavor.
In the meantime, keep checking back in with us until we sign off on Saturday, as we still have things to say pertaining to our great city, if only for the next couple of days. Plus, Morgen's daily series of images she took over the last year of being a music photographer wraps up on Saturday, you won't want to miss that. We'll also let you know where you can catch our writers in the interim.
Until then, we'll save our goodbyes for when it is proper.
