Remember the Alamo: UW Falls Short in Exciting Bowl Appearance
Fans of barn burners were rewarded with a special treat last night when the UW Huskies took on Baylor in the Alamo Bowl. Seeing as neither team's defense decided to make the trip to San Antonio, the offenses were left to launch passes, run rampant, and score touchdowns with abandon. The result? The combined point total of 123 made last night's Alamo Bowl the highest-scoring regulation bowl game in history.
The Huskies' offense, which has been the star of the show all season thanks to the talents of Chris Polk and Keith Price, was in fine form. Keith Price in particular had an outstanding performance at quarterback. Just check out his stats: 23/37, 438 yards, 0 interceptions, 4 passing TDs, and 3 rushing TDs. This performance is even more remarkable given the fact that it dwarfed that of the most recent Heisman trophy winner who was leading the Baylor squad.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to secure the win. UW ultimately couldn't keep pace with Baylor, eventually falling 67-56. Nevertheless, they should be proud of their performance. And, when they get home today, the offense can tell the defense how awesome it was to play in this record-setting bowl game.
